Cables - Diameter
The diameter of the cable is that of a circle circumscribed over a cross section of the cable. It is expressed in fractions of inches or in millimeters.
Theoretic Diameter – The value deduced by mathematical operations. This value is related to the diameters of the wires that constitute the cable.
Commercial Diameter – This number is deduced by rounding off the theoretic diameter to the nearest whole number, which is expressed in millimeters or fractions of an inch.
Real Diameter – This value is the result of the practical measurement of the cable. For the real diameter there is a tolerance of +5% and -2% of the theoretic diameter.
